Why is COLLABORATE 08 co-presented by three users groups?

Joining forces to co-present COLLABORATE 08 allows the IOUG, OAUG, and Quest to bring you the best practices and user-driven training that each user group offers. Plus, COLLABORATE 08 attendees will have access to the greater Oracle community – more exhibitors, Oracle representatives and other Oracle users.

Each organization will put together its own slate of educational content and plan activities geared specifically to its respective community, but at the end of the day, we all benefit from the shared COLLABORATE experience. The IOUG, OAUG, and Quest will continue to function as independent users groups serving separate audiences.

Where is COLLABORATE 08 taking place?

COLLABORATE 08 is being held April 13-17, 2008, at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado. Please refer to your affiliated organization’s Web site for information on making your hotel reservations and registering for the conference.

Is Oracle participating in COLLABORATE 08?

Yes. COLLABORATE is grateful to have Oracle's support and participation, in both the Exhibitor Showcase and via keynote presentations and educational sessions.

How many people are anticipated to be in attendance?

More than 7,500 attendees came to COLLABORATE 07, and we expect more in 2008. But we're careful to bring every attendee the ease of finding specific content that applies to them, as well as a fun, close-knit gathering with the greater Oracle community in addition to the events planned by each of our three groups.

How much will the event cost?

For budgeting purposes, plan on early bird rates for members in the range of $1,200 and non-member rates in the range of $1,700. Please check back on your affiliated organization’s Web site for registration fees, which will be posted soon.

Can I access all three organizations’ education/events?

Yes, although there are some events, such as pre-conference training sessions, that are limited to the registrants of each individual users group,.

Each organization collects registrations from its users independently, but COLLABORATE attendees have access to the education and events planned by all of the groups, with a few exceptions. More education is one of the biggest benefits of COLLABORATE, which functions like three conferences in one. You must register directly with your affiliated organization to receive accurate communications pertinent to your product line/area of interest. Online registration will be available by November 2007. Please look to your affiliated organization’s Web site for more information.

How is COLLABORATE different from Oracle OpenWorld?

COLLABORATE and Oracle OpenWorld are different, but each event complements the other in some very unique ways. By design, OpenWorld highlights the future, with less emphasis on current products. OpenWorld is full of emerging information, and it's exciting, fast-paced and BIG! And it can be a truly great experience.

COLLABORATE, on the other hand, takes a different approach. It's intimate enough for you to go home with a pocket full of business cards from users who have something in common with you, with ideas you can put to work today. It focuses on increasing your ROI through access to practical, real-world solutions that come from other users. You'll find hundreds of user-led sessions at COLLABORATE, and lots more from Oracle representatives and our partners in the vendor community.

If I am interested in only certain technologies or applications, will I still have options?

Yes. Each of our groups lists their education offerings on their respective Web sites, where you can find the sessions that are specific to your area of interest. The event will feature content and tracks specific to database and applications users alike.
